CASA helps make holidays brighter for children in foster care | Nebraska
CASA nebraska

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) work every day towards ensuring that every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.

The holidays can be an especially difficult time for a child in the foster system. But thanks to the Sarpy County CASA program and volunteers across the region, the holidays were a little brighter for the 200 children in foster care in the region.

The Holiday Giving Tree allows volunteers to “adopt” children and purchase gifts for them.

Bridgett Petzoldt is on the Sarpy County CASA Advisory Board and worked with the Black Hills Energy Papillion Corporate office to adopt 20 children, ages 2 to 17.  Purchased gifts were based on a listing provided by the CASA agency, and were delivered to the children by CASA volunteers on Monday, December 23.
