Black Hills Energy encourages residential customers to purchase and install qualifying energy efficient equipment. We have rebates for many energy products to help customers use less energy and save money on their energy bill.

Black Hills Energy encourages residential builders and contractors to incorporate energy efficiency into the construction of new residential homes. The program is designed to demonstrate persistent energy savings, reduce customer’s electricity bills, and provide other benefits to end-users, such as improved health, safety and comfort.

The program has two paths:

• Prescriptive Path: Builders/contractors put together a customized new construction package by selecting a combination of eligible measures to achieve the required number of points to receive an incentive.
• Performance Path: Incentives are based upon achieving specific Home Energy Rating System (HERs) ratings. Contact us for details at 888-567-0799.

Black Hills Energy offers financial incentives to residential customers to convert from natural gas water heating and space heating to energy efficient electric water heating and space heating equipment.

This program works to offer additional incentives and free electrification upgrades to customers who are at or below 80% of the area medium income. All customers applying for Income Qualified incentives must complete the program eligibility form.

Black Hills Energy offers a variety of programs for income qualified customers. Single Family Weatherization: Weatherize your home with all the best accessories from the Single Family Weatherization Program. Start off with a free assessment with free energy-saving products, including new lighting and insulation.

Whole Home Assistance:is designed to provide non-energy improvements to homes that participate in the Single Family Weatherization Program. Based upon need, a small portion of the Single Family Weatherization participants may receive measures or equipment that improves the living conditions of the home and addresses health and safety concerns beyond what can be addressed in the Single Family Weatherization Program (e.g., a new roof or mold remediation). Funding for non-energy improvements in the pilot will be dedicated to those projects that enable installation of energy efficiency measures.

Multifamily Weatherization: Add value, save energy, lower maintenance costs and improve resident satisfaction at your multi-family property with our Multifamily Weatherization Program. Qualifying properties can receive a free energy assessment, where a trained professional will identify your best efficiency opportunities, as well as free energy-saving products.
