The Black Hills Corporation Foundation recently awarded nearly $9,000 to support the Lawrence Arts Center Black Box Theater.

One of the organization’s most-used spaces, the Black Box Theater is a community room that helps young and old in Lawrence grow their love of the arts.

“The arts are incredibly important to Lawrence, Kansas,” said Kansas Community Affairs Manager James Williams. “Along with the city’s other major love – University of Kansas basketball – cultural enrichment opportunities like Black Box Theater are a cornerstone of the community.”

The mission of the Lawrence Arts Center is to create meaningful arts experiences with and for the community through education, exhibitions, and performances. It provides arts opportunities in education, performance, and exhibition to over 250,000 people each year and is a leader among public arts institutions in the region.
