United Way of Northwest Arkansas presents Spirit of Giving and Growth awards
United Way of Northwest Arkansas

The United Way of Northwest Arkansas (NWA) presented three awards to Black Hills Energy for growth and creativity with its 2022 workplace giving campaign, along with volunteering and contributing to all the agency’s service initiatives last year.

At the United Way award luncheon recognizing corporate partners, Black Hills Energy was the only company to receive three awards — Spirit of Giving, Growth and Corporate Partner.

Black Hills Energy team members in Arkansas generously pledged nearly $42,000 — which will be matched by 25% from our foundation this year — to the United Way of NWA. Additionally, more than $2,000 was delivered following our Season of Giving campaign when we had dunk tanks as a fundraiser. Thirty-three nonprofit organizations were supported through grants from this agency over the past year.

The Spirit of Giving recognition was for the company who most encouraged and kept employees engaged throughout the year with United Way. They specifically stated they see our employees have the most fun while raising funds during campaign and mentioned how much they enjoyed our dunk tank event.

The Corporate Partner award was for partnering with them to make NWA a better place each year. The Growth award was presented for being one of the top three companies, along with BIC and Crayola, that had an increase in donations from employees.

In addition to volunteering during Season of Giving, the Black Hills Energy NWA team also provided positive energy serving on Live United Day at NOARK Girl Scout camp, at its golf tournament and at Walmart stores for the Fill the Bus school supply drive. And our team had an outpouring of support donating school supplies in the summer and later Christmas gifts for the Joy of Sharing program.

Black Hills Energy also supported Arkansas 211 through this United Way, as well as Dolly Parton's Imagination Library which was selected by Volunteer of the Year Janet Worley.

United Way also thanked their board members at the luncheon, which included our state leader Chad Kinsley.

Thank you all for your continued support. We couldn't do it without each one of you.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Follow us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedInTwitter, YouTube, and Pinterest for more!
